Soundwave was on Sunday.
Note to self: Get pics off Ange. Add pics later.
The day started with me waking up at 6am. I don’t know why, but I lost some very valuable sleep right then and there. I was so annoyed because my body clock is so used to waking up before 6am now, that it decides to wake me up at 6am.
Anyway, went to refill at Shell where it was pouring rain. This sucked so much. LUCKY Soundwave was at the Big Top Luna Park, i.e. it was taking place indoors. Made my way to Ange’s house first (first trip along the M7 with my new etag, yesssuhh), and then picked up Tony. Then made our way to Westfield where we then met up with Julie. We decided to eat lunch first before making our way to Soundwave. We also had these awesome Frozen Yogurt at parra. OMG that stuff was heaven. Tony and Ange bought their puny sized one while Julie and I bought a jumbo where we got to choose 4 toppings (chose 2 each). We chose lychee, mango, marshmallows and fruit loops. I wanna go back.
When we eventually reached the place around 1.40 the rain had died a little, so we got in and waited for Hellogoodbye to come on. As usual, their set wasn’t really the best.. only knew a couple of their songs. And damn I was wearing a freakin jacket in the mosh, I forgot how hot it gets, regardless of how cold it is outside.
Anyway afterwards, we went outside in the rain again to go get some food.. feed the seagulls.. usual stuff. We bought chips and we were sitting in the emo corner with the other emo’s cutting our wrists eating. Tony dared me to throw a chip at these people who were standing 3m in front of us just so the seagulls would attack them. They had their backs turned to us …so just for shits and giggles, and because the inner a-hole in me decided to, I threw it and it landed in her boot. LOL. There were 2 things funny about this: Her reaction to when the chip landed in her boot.. she thought it was a seagull and she flinched a bit, the 2nd being that the couple of seagulls that actually tried to go for the chip, couldn’t get to it. Now.. I know it was a cruel thing to do… but that seagull will find some food another way. Oh and the girl will get that chip out of her boot when she gets home anyway… actually there’s the third thing.. us trying to hide our laughter.
Anyway, Funeral for a Friend then came on, and as usual they were bloody awesome. Takes me back a few years when they were in their prime. Afterwards we went back outside, took some photos then Story of the Year came on. My absolute favourite band. They did NOT disappoint. Would they ever? Yellowcard followed soon after, and knowing Yellowcard songs — they’re so feel-good that you just want to go nuts. So thats what we did. All of us loved it.
Julie had to go to the toilet right before Yellowcard came on. So she left, but somehow after doing her business.. she managed to find us in the middle of the mosh. As soon as Yellowcard started it was chaos. In the awesome kind. It was hot, sweaty, loud, frantic, and somehow the guy in front of me who had a very unwashed ponytail, his fucken hair went into my mouth. It was disgusting, it was. I had that dirty taste in my mouth, and I thought it was a girl at first so i at least knew they would wash their hair, but this person turned around and I realised yep, it was a dude with long hair. Even dirtier. Fahhh. Anyway, we were standing in the middle, center, whatever you wanna call it.. and somehow we got moved to the side as every song went by. I think, also, we were all sick of the unavoidable pushing and shoving that goes on, so I pushed this person in front of me to make room. lol. This guy next to me just laughed because of the little tb who tried to do so much, but couldn’t. Surprisingly by the end of this, I didn’t lose my voice.
Stayed for a couple of songs for All Time Low then drove home… well drove to Pancakes on the Rocks at North Strathfield.
… and then drove home. I almost got around to falling asleep at work the next day. But I survived. Cos.. I’m a survivor? WHHAAAAAT.
EDIT: On a sidenote, 5 or so years ago, I told Julie I’d take her to her first concert experience. I have now fulfilled this promise, with experience to talk about being in a mosh for the first time. I told her… everyone needs to experience it. Its more fun when you’re actually into the band, but either way, at least I know she was strong enough to even stay there for 1 band. Hahah. Good stuff.
