JC’s. Graduation. Work.

Saturday, 14th May

Jamsines 21st year on earth! Twas amazing. Animal print theme, seeing familiar faces again, and seeing the little animal safari lioness’ face light up.  Pretty sure everyone had fun. We bought her an iPad 2 for her birthday, courtesy of the uni friends + 2 of her friends. As she says, she is so spoilt haha, but we love it I guess. My birthday month would never be like hers in a million and one years!! Lucky girl.

So anyway, extremely sorry for being an hour late. It was our intention to be there on time, like the filos that we are, we had everything planned, but we missed an exit, had to wait for people to be at the meeting spot etc. We tried!! But we made up for it by being the last ones to leave I guess? lol. If thats forgivable!!

I has a snake around my arm!

… and that snake ripped a part of my shirt off. Damn cheap Cotton On.

Monday, 16th May

Graduation!!!! We drove down at around 1pm because we were told to be there 90 minutes before our ceremony. Whilst my family ate a quick lunch, I grabbed my gown and bag of programmes and information.  Wish more people were there graduating with me, but I did bump into some people I’ve seen around uni and had a chat with them, congratulating each other and shedding manly tears together.

The proud parentals?

.. and the older brother. With my hat combover hair.

The actual ceremony was as you’d expect, you sit there through speeches, get your 5 seconds of fame on stage, then you sit back down. Afterwards, Peter came by to visit Thien, myself and a few other friends. Took some photos with the fam, returned my gown then made our way to The Malaya!

Food was great! We ordered the Set Menu 2 which consisted of Sashimi Salmon, Szechuan chicken, lamb bali, mee goreng and vegies, amongst a couple other delish dishes.

We made our way home, then Jasmine paid a visit to personally congratulate me since she said she would, even though shes sick! Probably will get sick too as I was coughing at work. Hahah just kiddz.  Shes cool.

Tuesday, 17th May

Came into work today amongst the congrats by everyone, apparently word got around lols and so I had people come up and ask “how’d it go”, and “how was the big day” - pretty much every variation of that by a handful of people.

Di came up to me and gave me an envelope, and there is one thing I want to mention that I noticed as she gave it to me - she gave me a kiss on the head. Like the ones you give your son when you’re proud of them, or comforting them because they’ve failed.  She has DEFINITELY become the hilarious mother figure of our group. And I thank her for that! The reason why everyone around me at ATO is awesome.  It was a graduation card in the envelope and a couple scratchies where I won …. another scratchie. Haha. The card sits on my workdesk to showcase to the world.

Thanks to everyone that has congratulated me!

I also changed my hair today and forevermore and got complimented that I actually suit it. Gone will be the fringe!

Meanwhile…

So at work today during pre-processing… Di, Billy, Marianne and I were sitting together, and Di is sort of, how can I say this, a mother figure to us at work. Not really, but shes bloody hilarious how she speaks her mind without a second to think twice about what she says.

D: Hey guys did you see the little boy who sang that … that Whitney Houston song on Australia’s Got Talent?
A: OH YEAH that white kid?!
M: Was there any reason for you to say hes white? lol

*moments later*

M: Did you know about the Aborigines making techno music with a didgeridoo?
A: No, what the hell?
D: That’d be the black kid, Adrian.

*moments later after talking about crap*

D: Oi dickface, keep your mouth shut now I’m trying to concentrate.
A: (To M and B) Huh? What did she call me? Deep voice?

Eventful.

First and foremost, I should be studying, but I thought I’d take a break (#4002) to write an entry on this past week.  To be straight to the point - it was my last week at uni EVER, and to celebrate (celebrate me leaving? (Thien had his last week apparently)) we had a dinner at Satang Thai.  Also, it was the last week at ATO before they were going to cut people down. By a LOT.

Firstly, with ATO - we all knew this week was coming. In the lead up to this week, Simone has been picking the “3 best friends” up to drive us to work. I began to sing Good Riddance (Time of your Life) one time in the car and Simone told me to “cut it out”.  HAHA. Anyway, theres about 8 of us close friends at work and 6 of us got our contracts extended - pretty good considering they were keeping 40/106 across all shifts. And I believe a majority of that are staff who worked there last year. So yeah, looking forward to continuing working there, especially since we’re stuck with our favourite supervisor.

Secondly, on the UNI side of things, it was my last class ever yesterday and I got to spend it with James and Ada (and partly Ricky who left half way through). Afterwards ate at Satang Thai with Jasmine, Van, Jason, Ricky, Seline, Thien, James, Billy, Lenny and Ada.  Awesome way to end the semester, I must say. :)

Here’s to the next chapter of my life…
