Delta Force Paintball, Appin.

Paintball yesterday with the UTS lads. It was me, Lenny, James, Jimmy, Simon, Joel, Tim, Gordon and Nam.

Fwarkk was it a trek and a half to get to the place.  We picked up James from Cabra in Lennys 2.5 seater ute, so it was a bit of a squeeze sitting in the middle. 3 guys in a ute was a sight to .. forget.

Anyway, when we got the place, I wasn’t expecting there to be about 50 other people playing at the same time. I thought it was just going to be us against each other. But overall it was pretty awesome. We got suited in our camo gear then briefed on safety and itinerary for the day. We got split up into different teams so 5 of us go split up and put into a different team, but we were still against each other, albeit with randoms.

First map was the crypt game zone. When the guy counted down, we all ran straight for cover. and started shooting across the map, but no one was moving up to the crypt, so to get the nerves of getting shot out of our system, we all stood in a line and withstood fire from the other team. Tim shot me 3 times - yes it hurt like a bitch. I also was wearing a half-visor helmet, so my head was totally exposed (as opposed to the other guys who don’t wear glasses - they get full helmets). When a paintball hit my head, GADDAMN did it cain … for about 5 seconds.

I really am lazy with describing the rest of the day, but it was so much fun, including when I got my revenge on Tim on the London map. Shot him multiple times while he was running and yelled out a celebratory YEAHHHHH!!!! Hahah. Oh in one of the maps, I GOT SHOT IN THE MOUTH. It hit the grills where the helmet protects your mouth, and the paint went straight through. Tasting the paint was terrible since we weren’t allowed to remove our helmets, I was constantly spitting out trails of paint. Best map was this one though, its where I shot the most people for me, and we took over the bus.

Overall, the day was good fun. Would definitely love to go again! Preferably when there isn’t mud or when it wasn’t previously raining.

Jamberoo! Where You Control the Action

Woke up at 6am last Saturday to get ready for a weekend away with my family, the Ocampo family and Katrina.  We were planning to go to Jamberoo Recreation Park, then stay the night at the Jamberoo Valley Lodge.

The Ocampo’s eventually came at around 7.30am then we drove up with me part-navigator.  We ate breakfast at Maccas an hour later then continued our long drive.  The ocean view along the way was breathtaking, we managed to make a stopover at one of the lookouts.

My bro, Katrina, me

We eventually made it to Jamberoo just before 10am and we could already feel the heat.  I just wanted to get in the bloody water.  To start things off, and since the line was short for the Taipan (still long as shit, but short compared to when we went back later) we went on that first… and then a second time, and then again and again.  :D  We ventured out to try and get on all the rides, and we did get to go on a majority of them, minus the toboggans that I missed out on.  It was WAYY too hot, and the ride looked slow as.  I expected MACH 10 SPEEDS, instead, I got asian-mom-driving-on-a-Sunday syndrome. The ground almost burnt our feet too, we scurried around to find even the tiniest bit of shade we could stand in.

The wave pool was the best I reckon, because we spent the most time in the water there, for obvious reasons. We started some chant, during the start of the waves.  Everyone followed suit and joined in with us. Haha it was pure awesome.  Marvin’s nose started bleeding so that ended our parade.

Madeleine, Marvin, Me

This was when we arrived, when we left it was heaps packed.

Us on the Taipan slide.  We turned white and one of us had a sex change. (I haven’t acquired the photo of us on it from Khaye yet, so this will do)

Overall I give Jamberoo a 7/10.  -3 because of how far it is, and the ridiculous lines (understandable) and needed a bit more rides.

Afterwards we drove to the Valley Lodge.  This motel/lodge/whateverthefuck it is was so dodgy.  At least the games room was.  There was only a billiards table and table tennis table in there.  Both were practically unplayable.  As I was about to walk out, I noticed something in the corner of the room that looked like feathers moving.  I leaned over to see and yep… sure enough they had peacocks running wild in this hole of a place that had no reception.  The rooms were ok though.

25 metre pool that sucked, and a games room that had broken games. :D

Feeding the peacocks.

We ate Chinese for dinner (Honey Chicken ftw) bought some ice cream then back to the lodge.  We ended up playing New Super Mario Bros. (since Marvin brought his Wii) till 3am. It was great fun. :D

The next morning, I had no idea what we were doing.  We ate breakfast at one of the local cafe’s, then made our way to Minnamurra Rainforest.  Turns out we were going bushwalking, and half of us failed to bring closed footwear.  Whatever.  We started our walk and I began to notice the completely foreign flora that I would never see anywhere else.  The tree’s towered over us like 100 Yao Mings.  Also, if I had a $1 for everytime I heard variations of “You are not in kansas anymore, you are on Pandora”…. I would have enough to buy the rights to the Avatar franchise.

The unstable bridge.

You are not in Kansas anymore… you are on Pandora.

The tree from Avatar.

From here on, came the strenuous easy climb.

The actual falls. Smaller than it seemed (that’s not what she said)

Natures asshole.

There were steep inclines everywhere, and wearing thongs was such a bad idea, especially on parts going down.  Anyway, 2 hours later, we eventually reached the falls which… wasn’t all that spectacular. I guess this time of year, the water stream isn’t as strong.  It was like having your tap on at its weakest, as opposed to having it on full blast.  Weak stuff.  My dad and Marvins dad couldn’t make the whole trip, so I recorded the falls for them to see.

Made our way back to Kiama afterwards then ate Domino’s, then headed back home.

And that is my Australia Day long weekend adventure.

Happy Australia Day!
