I love regret.

Work + Awards Night

My work mates name is Shoeb (pronounced Show-ebb)

MW: Hi, I was just talking to uhh…Shew…Show…
Me: Shooby. (For shits and giggles, I said Shooby to see if she fell for it)
MW: YES SHOOBY.
Me: hahahahaha, Shoeb, yep?
MW: Yeah Shobby, whatever!

———————————————-

I love when they call up not sounding like their worlds about to crash because they can’t do shit on their computer, or technology is failing around them. It does wonders to my day! Especially when they can joke about it.

… and that’s wassup at work.

Also, we had an awards night for McGrath Estate Agents. Everyone from every office came down to Sydney to celebrate achievements and recognition of high sales from sales agents, as well as property managers, most outstanding photographers etc. It was a GREAT night to meet people and to put a face to the voices I hear on the phone. It literally felt like the Oscars there - red carpet, cameras and everything, and even a wall for the photograph background with all our sponsors on it. Everyone was dressed too nice (I felt a little underdressed coming in the clothes I came to work in + a blazer, but oh well).

Some of them came up to me and asked “ARE YOU ADRIAN??”. It was held at the Westin, Sydney and the food was amazing. It was a 3 course meal with unlimited drinks and we obviously took advantage of that. I asked my manager if I could come in an hour late, which I thought was enough.

So anyway, I take the taxi home and throughout the whole trip, it was dead silence, my head was just spinning (from the alco maybe), and I wanted to doze off, but he kept asking random questions, and then it’d be silence, then random questions. We pull up on my drive way, I begin to write the check from work for cabcharge and he says “$150 please….yes..”. On the meter it read $138, so I kinda responded with a surprised “$150?!?”, questioning why the fuck he jacked up the price. Then I thought… toll, but thats still expensive. He did confirm it was for toll, but then goes “… yes.. make that $152.. yes” (he kept saying “yes” in the most devious fucking tone ever).

I come to work the next day at 9.30 like I said I would, and half the office isn’t even there… and they didn’t come in until around 12.30. Zzzz I could’ve stayed in bed.

Oh well. Here is a Photo from the photo booth they had set up.

Clockwise starting from the top left:
Random guy who jumped in, Grace from Finance department, Me from IT department, Min from … development department, Pam from Finance department.

Funny we all went to UTS and are fairly new starters. (not the random and the dev guy)

JC’s. Graduation. Work.

Saturday, 14th May

Jamsines 21st year on earth! Twas amazing. Animal print theme, seeing familiar faces again, and seeing the little animal safari lioness’ face light up.  Pretty sure everyone had fun. We bought her an iPad 2 for her birthday, courtesy of the uni friends + 2 of her friends. As she says, she is so spoilt haha, but we love it I guess. My birthday month would never be like hers in a million and one years!! Lucky girl.

So anyway, extremely sorry for being an hour late. It was our intention to be there on time, like the filos that we are, we had everything planned, but we missed an exit, had to wait for people to be at the meeting spot etc. We tried!! But we made up for it by being the last ones to leave I guess? lol. If thats forgivable!!

I has a snake around my arm!

… and that snake ripped a part of my shirt off. Damn cheap Cotton On.

Monday, 16th May

Graduation!!!! We drove down at around 1pm because we were told to be there 90 minutes before our ceremony. Whilst my family ate a quick lunch, I grabbed my gown and bag of programmes and information.  Wish more people were there graduating with me, but I did bump into some people I’ve seen around uni and had a chat with them, congratulating each other and shedding manly tears together.

The proud parentals?

.. and the older brother. With my hat combover hair.

The actual ceremony was as you’d expect, you sit there through speeches, get your 5 seconds of fame on stage, then you sit back down. Afterwards, Peter came by to visit Thien, myself and a few other friends. Took some photos with the fam, returned my gown then made our way to The Malaya!

Food was great! We ordered the Set Menu 2 which consisted of Sashimi Salmon, Szechuan chicken, lamb bali, mee goreng and vegies, amongst a couple other delish dishes.

We made our way home, then Jasmine paid a visit to personally congratulate me since she said she would, even though shes sick! Probably will get sick too as I was coughing at work. Hahah just kiddz.  Shes cool.

Tuesday, 17th May

Came into work today amongst the congrats by everyone, apparently word got around lols and so I had people come up and ask “how’d it go”, and “how was the big day” - pretty much every variation of that by a handful of people.

Di came up to me and gave me an envelope, and there is one thing I want to mention that I noticed as she gave it to me - she gave me a kiss on the head. Like the ones you give your son when you’re proud of them, or comforting them because they’ve failed.  She has DEFINITELY become the hilarious mother figure of our group. And I thank her for that! The reason why everyone around me at ATO is awesome.  It was a graduation card in the envelope and a couple scratchies where I won …. another scratchie. Haha. The card sits on my workdesk to showcase to the world.

Thanks to everyone that has congratulated me!

I also changed my hair today and forevermore and got complimented that I actually suit it. Gone will be the fringe!

Meanwhile…

So at work today during pre-processing… Di, Billy, Marianne and I were sitting together, and Di is sort of, how can I say this, a mother figure to us at work. Not really, but shes bloody hilarious how she speaks her mind without a second to think twice about what she says.

D: Hey guys did you see the little boy who sang that … that Whitney Houston song on Australia’s Got Talent?
A: OH YEAH that white kid?!
M: Was there any reason for you to say hes white? lol

*moments later*

M: Did you know about the Aborigines making techno music with a didgeridoo?
A: No, what the hell?
D: That’d be the black kid, Adrian.

*moments later after talking about crap*

D: Oi dickface, keep your mouth shut now I’m trying to concentrate.
A: (To M and B) Huh? What did she call me? Deep voice?

Lucky 6 (lottery) at work.

No winners for past 3 weeks so its 6 numbers out of 13 to win (rather than regular 20).

I ask to see workmates so called “winning” numbers.

Realises that he chose numbers above 13. Expression goes from :D —-> D:

lols, oh, lols. Winner, for sure, mate.

With You Friends (Long Drive)

Today I came into work and found something on my desk wrapped in those paper food bags. It had a post-it note on it that read:

I opened it up, and sure enough it was filled with unspeakable levels of power…fully tastyness.

So I put it in the fridge until break, and thanked Di for it. Tasted so gooood.

On the title of this news post:

Skrillex - With You Friends (Long Drive)

Surprisingly an ex-vocalist for From First to Last came up with this and is now known as Skrillex. Massive change and I definitely love it when the piano comes in at 1:46 then when the song actually starts around 4:13. Can’t even describe how randomly awesome this song is.

Eventful.

First and foremost, I should be studying, but I thought I’d take a break (#4002) to write an entry on this past week.  To be straight to the point - it was my last week at uni EVER, and to celebrate (celebrate me leaving? (Thien had his last week apparently)) we had a dinner at Satang Thai.  Also, it was the last week at ATO before they were going to cut people down. By a LOT.

Firstly, with ATO - we all knew this week was coming. In the lead up to this week, Simone has been picking the “3 best friends” up to drive us to work. I began to sing Good Riddance (Time of your Life) one time in the car and Simone told me to “cut it out”.  HAHA. Anyway, theres about 8 of us close friends at work and 6 of us got our contracts extended - pretty good considering they were keeping 40/106 across all shifts. And I believe a majority of that are staff who worked there last year. So yeah, looking forward to continuing working there, especially since we’re stuck with our favourite supervisor.

Secondly, on the UNI side of things, it was my last class ever yesterday and I got to spend it with James and Ada (and partly Ricky who left half way through). Afterwards ate at Satang Thai with Jasmine, Van, Jason, Ricky, Seline, Thien, James, Billy, Lenny and Ada.  Awesome way to end the semester, I must say. :)

Here’s to the next chapter of my life…

Workplace Birthday

The supervisors at work are on rotation so we end up with different ones every fortnight.  Working at the ATO for 4 months now, and part of what made it much more bearable to sit there doing a very tedious task were the friendships formed not only with the other people working there, but with these supervisors.

Today was our favourite supervisors’ birthday who received a kids golf club set (inside joke), a Certificate of Appreciation signed by the 8 ATO Bandits (its what we call ourselves hahah), and a diary + card with our photos in there along with a birthday message.  It was a challenge to get all that on her desk whilst she was away. But when the opportunity came, Simone placed it on her desk and hurried back to her desk.  Peita came and saw the golf club set with our faces plastered all over it, the certificate and card, and replied back to email all of us a massive thankyou.  Pay day was almost here but we decided to go down the sentimental road since we were probably going to get let go soon (also because sentimental gifts was partly my doing hahaha).

Cheerio.

EDIT: Yes, Annie, let go, because tax season is over and there isn’t as much work to do now. Hahah. (I don’t know how to go about replying to your reply on tumblr!)

Quotes around the workplace.

Not by me, but mostly by other people around the workplace.  I really don’t see how I would get through the day without a silly quote made by someone from work.

—————————————————————-

“What a douchebag!  That’s jerk status right there.”

“Where’s Linkin Park?”

“Whats with the purple?”

“That’s what she said.” - “Who’s ‘she’?, what did she say? :S”

“I need to take a day off, who do I talk to?” - “Talk? Just email.” - “.. I think I’ll stick to snail mail.” - “.. or a pigeon carrier.”

(after getting an error for the 5th time)
“This is fucking bullshit”

“Adrian, can you stay back? or do you need to ask and hold hands with Louie, and Jose, and Simone, and Will, and Marianne…..”

(singing) “Aaaalleluia, alleluia, alleluia… I’m going to sing that till the end of me shift”

“Who keeps stealing my red pen?”

“I’m convinced a leprechaun sits at this desk after my shift.”

(shouting across everyone) “ADRIAN ARE YOU STAYING?” - “No!” - “**** would’ve wanted you to.” - “WHATEVAH”

“We’re evacuating? But I need to go poo!!”

“We’re evacuating? But my bag is upstairs!!”

”****’s chucking a poo and it stinks.”

“I was in the toilet for 20 minutes just browsing facebook HAHA” - “Dude, your shit would’ve dried up or something by then.”

(singing) “… cause we’re the four best friends that anybody could have…!” - “But theres 5 of you” - “yeah well Ankit doesn’t catch the train with us.”

“Hello pa?”

“So whose getting coffee? - “SHOTGUN NOT” - “SHOTGUN NOT!” - “SHOTGU-.. dammnit”

—————————————————————-

Can’t remember any more but everyday theres gold. I’m going to miss that place when they eventually let us go. HAHA.  Cheers to M, W, T, S, J, T, L, D, C, and A. In particular - the ATO Bandits.  One day our band will rule.

Coworker 1:  Yeah why don’t you ask Dianne, she’s been to Jazz My Waffles.
Coworker 2: Oh really? Hey Di, you’ve been to Jazz My Waffles. Is it just like Max Brenner?
Dianne: (shouting loudly) Who’s Max Brenner?!
